Autumn is in the air. True, it doesn't have the same ring as "spring is in the air," but it's no bastard stepchild among the four seasons.

It's a perfect time to dust off those Warhammer minis and get them over to our little pumpkin-patch-of-a-battlefield in San Antonio Shopping center.

This is long overdue, but congratulations to the first team to take the Premiership title in the Fighting Hellfish Blood Bowl league. Find out who it was in the BBPL section.

This much we know. You're going to need a tank. It is TANKS-giving after all. And it's going to have to be painted up all nice. Fortunately, you won't have to play that way. Andrew, you hear that?

It's happening either on Wed 23 Nov or Sun 27 Nov. Let us know your preference in the discussion boards.

Special Event: Konevgrad 2005

All's quiet on the Warhammer Fantasy front. There's the new Lustria book and GW is promoting it with their usual fanfare.

It hasn't piqued any Fighting Hellfish interest, so we'll probably just sit back and watch GW raise prices for the 3rd time in a year and a half. Nothing beats that. Well, maybe watching paint dry.

Our very own Tommy refused to let the lack of a Grand Tournament in Nor Cal stop him. Heck no. He giddy upped to Dallas, TX and played some big Warhammer Fantasy games against some big opponents in the home of big hair. Way to go "T".

Who knows what games lurk in the hearts of men? Or in their closets? Or on their game tables?

This week, our own David H. will be hosting a very special Thursday. On April 7th, you will get a chance to experience the game that is Twilight Imperium.

It's all about kicking the crap out of people in outer space. There are 10 races. You start at your home sector. Move out. Engage in ship-to-ship combat. Conquer worlds. And backstab allies.

David also said something about trade agreements, blah, blah, blah, and developing technology, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

But did you hear the part about backstabbing and conquering? What's not to love? So see you all on Thursday!

Yes, we're talking about the winner of the Big Fish league. The incomparable, the indescribable, the box-set sensation, Sean. He's turning the big 3-0. (just think, he'd be dead in 'Logan's Run')

So come by for some gaming, some eating and especially some arts and crafts. Don L's has graciously volunteered to show us the marvels of Hirst Building Blocks. You'll get to put together your very own terrain piece. Sure beats, pinning a tail on some donkey.

Festivities start at noon. Bring your spanking paddle.

And just what does that mean for the next league? Since the next league was designed around preparing for the Grand Tournament, it looks as if we need a new idea. Any suggestion? Let Ray know.

Never fear though, we'll continue Thursday open gaming at Matchplay. Bring 1850, bring 500, bring 8000. Bring something because there'll certainly be a game for you.

With this league behind it is time for a well-deserved rest right? Wrong! Not with rumors of a San Jose GT!

See Ray for details, as he is organizing the next 40k league as we speak to be a practice league for the GT. People will be coming from all over the world, and we want to show them what the "3rd most fightingist" is made of!

Open gaming opportunities galore while the 40k league is running this next month or so. This is a good opportunity to build up that army relaxing in your home barracks, or try out new unit combinations, because the 3rd chapter in the history of the turbulent island of Briternia is closer than you think!

Hot on the heels of the next 40k league, Briternia III, Awakening of the Ancients will begin. This Briternia promises to be bigger, grander, more epic and action-packed than you can possibly imagine.

Kevin and David have been hard at work writing, rewriting, balancing, and developing the best campaign money can buy. (Disclaimer: several goblins were injured while being tortured for information in the production of this campaign).

Check out the latest version of the rules in the League section, and voice any ideas, concerns or questions to Kevin. You still have a month or so to voice your opinion before it turns into a piercing cry of terror at the emergence of the Pharaoh.

You want other games? It is there. Post in the message boards and find out what is, or could be happening.

There are always board games, or Lord of the Rings, BFG, Bloodbowl, terrain building, painting, card games, etc just waiting to happen or going on right under your noses.

In particular, Munchkin is often a late night option and now in elegant style since Patrick "borrowed" a nice set of card dispensers from the Blue-Hair Local 103 out of LeisureWorld, CA.

And there is always something simmering just under the surface ready to spring forward
