Come by Matchplay with your Fantasy army and match your generalship
with other players from around the Bay.
The standard is 2000 points, but people will pretty much accomodate
whatever you have.
Kevin is also working on Briternia 3. Make sure you get in touch
with him and let him know what you'd like to add to the campaign.
There's a set of revised rules floating around. Take a look. It's
due to start in the spring of 2005.

League Playoffs
Due to the Christmas holiday, the League Playoffs will be postponed
for another week. Ray will let everyone know when the playoffs will
actually start. Good luck to everyone who made it this far.
Last week a bunch of us got together for a big game. There were
over 6,000 points of Imperial forces versus 12 Chaos Kill Teams.
Amazingly enough the game made it to turn 8, where the battle had
it's triumphant climax. Take a look at the gallery section to find
out more.
Hope everyone had a marvelous 2004 and here's to an even better

Annual Big Game
You've waited all year for this. And we're not talking about jolly
Saint Nick. It's the Fighting Hellfish's annual game of living large.
It's been 4 years. Or maybe 5. Or is it 6? Who's counting, anyways.
But it's certainly a Hellfish tradition. And this year won't disappoint.
There will be a big ass table. There will be plenty of models. And
there will be big portions of smackdown.
It's this Thursday, December 16th. And it's so momentous, that Ray's
40k league will be on hold until the following week.
Once again, the City of Konevgrad, will be the battlegrounds for
this monstrosity. Will the madness ever end? Will Chaos forces overrun
the streets? Or will Imperial forces stand victorious?
The rules are being concocted as we speak. So hold tight. Look for
more specifics to be posted on the Hellfish Boards, in the next
couple days.
This much we know:
1) Imperial and Chaos forces only
2) All models must be painted
3) Chaos players should bring multiple lists, preferably in 500
point increments. (but if you only have 800 points painted, then
bring 'em all)
And if you haven't done so already, sign up here.
Please arrive promptly at 6:30 for sign-ups. If you will be late,
please let us know on the Hellfish Boards.

There’s a thunder down under brewing.

to rise to power yourself? OZ is waiting!
Back-in: Variant Lists, Citadel Journal, all the under powered forces

Open Gaming
The Curse of the Hidden Dead struck again and struck hard.
The Warhammer Fantasy League came to an abrupt, aggrieved and anticlimactical
conclusion this past week as proud Elven warriors turned into craven
fowl. Our own Catfish showed his true poultry colors and chose to
forfeit rather than rise to his monarchial duties—leaving
the isle of Briternia in an irreconcilable state.
Big props to the league architect and administrator, Kevin, and
his cartographer, David H. for their efforts the past 12 weeks.
Look for the final results of the Briternia Campaign soon.
Of course, the end of the campaign means it’s time to put
open gaming into overdrive. Bring out your new army and challenge
a former Briternian Lord to combat. And, if you’re going to
the LA Grand Tournament at the end of September, this is a great
opportunity to fine tune your army.

Little League Season!
It’s July, it’s hot, no hot dogs, but it is time for
the Little Leaguers to come out anyway.
Everyone can and should get involved here as this just might prove
to be the most fun, low-key, “Beer & Pretzels” attitude

Last Thursday was the first “practice run” and it was
a huge success. Bring a 500-point Army and show up this Thursday
for the first night. (See League Section for army limits and guidelines)

This last week there were drastic happenings! Check out all the

Little League is all about the fun, low stress, strange armies,
questionable sanity, and seeing if Patrick will lay something that
isn’t cheesy! (yeah right, anyone check out the Butcher's

This past Thursday was the trial run of some Little Leaguer lists.
We saw Harliquins, Humans that thought they were Orks, Orks that
thought they were Humans, More fragile Eldar, and many unique conversions.

Thank your lucky charms, the Warhammer Fantasy Campaign is almost
ready to make its world debut. Space is going to be extremely limited
in this campaign, so make sure you reserve a spot with Kevin.
Also Rob N. and Russ return from the Seattle GT this week. Hopefully,
they'll fill us in on all the mayhem and mischief in the Emerald
City.
The 40k league, Big Fish Challenge, is half way over. Like Seabiscuit
versus Man-of-War, Donovan has sprung out to take the lead. All
is not lost, however, with players getting hundreds and hundreds
of bonus points, the Big Fish is still up for grabs.
There also is some murmuring for another big game--Battle for Konevgrad
2004. It'll be icing on the Big Fish league cake. Plan for it on
on April 8th--the Thursday after the league ends. Visit the boards
and add your opinion on how you want the BFG to be.
The Fighting Hellfish will also be hosting the 2nd Annual 40k Rogue
Trader Tournament this summer. This year's RTT will closely mirror
the 2004 US Grand Tournament, everything EXCEPT the $100 price tag.
The expected date for the RTT is the weekend of July 10th, so mark
your calendars.
We're certainly expecting to see the new SOBs at the next RTT. Some
members of the Fighting Hellfish have already taken a sneak peak
at the new Witch Hunter Codex. The new Codex is quite competitve.

else could you ask for?

Last Tuesday, we witnessed a master of mastication manhandle a massive
mound of meat. Disturbing. Yes. Entertaining. Yes. Amazing. Yes.
Like a car accident on the side of the road, our eyes couldn't be
averted. Our very dis-owned Jeff K. (don't try this at home kids)
polished off an 8x8 burger at In-n-out Burger that's 8 pieces of
meat and 8 pieces of cheese. If you don't believe us, check out
the pictures in the gallery section.
As for events, that was just for appetizers. On Thursday, the new
40k league started up to a full house. The battles were fast and
furious with familiar faces and newcomers alike duking it out to
become "Big Fish." The results are posted in the League
section.
This week, we'll see if the winners can beat challengers who get
to carry an extra 150 points in their armies. Glad everyone could
make it, and if you missed out, it's not too late to sign up this
Thursday. Think about how nice it would be to take on that special
someone with a juicy extra 600 points of goodness. Nice. Real Nice.
Afterwards, Kevin and David H. discussed the new Fantasy league.
Over the last couple of days, Kevin has put together a hearty set

on making the Fantasy league better and plugging any potential holes.

Starting next Thursday 15 January, we will be kicking off the Big
Fish Challenge 2004. Ray has put together a great league to keep
your Thursday nights bristling with fun and your days in between
brooding over how you’ll tackle next week’s battle and
wondering why Thursdays can’t come any sooner.
The 40k league will be starting at a low 1,500 points, so it’s
the perfect forum to test out the new army you got for Christmas
or a variation on your tried and true army. The league is designed
to be fun and challenging for both veteran and newbie, young and
old, Imperial and Chaos, Eldar and Tau, Ork and Necron. Dark Eldar
and ‘Nid, Hrud and Demiurg. The details are in the League
section.
As for Warhammer Fantasy, open gaming continues as the Fighting
Hellfish are now ready throw off their training wheels and increase
the point value for open gaming to 2,000 points. Fret not, though,
if you fear the 2K, because many players will be carrying multiple
lists to play smaller and larger battles.
The Warhammer Fantasy Elven rankings are as follows:
(as of 5 jan)
Top Elf: Andrew
High Elf: David H.
Middle Elf: TBD
Low Elf: TBD
Sewer Elf: TBD
Oceanic Crust Elf: TBD
Lithosphere Elf: TBD
Asthenosphere Elf: TBD
Mesophere Elf: Jeff K
Congratulations to all who made the list.
The next couple of Tuesdays and Thursday,
we will be discussing the plans for the Fighting Hellfish at this
year's Games Workshop Games Day Los Angeles, which is on Saturday
24 April. If you want to participate and if you have any ideas on
how to put the “2!” in Plasmaball Run II, make sure
you stop by Matchplay on one of those nights or e-mail Pat.
Added: Big Fish Challenge 2004 rules to the League Section.
Added: New Pic of the Week in the Gallery section.
